Hack-A-Thon Recap: Reimagining the Physical World

Welcome to another week everyone!! We decided this would be the perfect topic to discuss for a Monday morning.  We were incredibly fortunate to have Biying Miao from Hot Pop Factory join us as a Hack-A-Thon advisor and Power Talk presenter.

For anyone unfamiliar with Hot Pop Factory, they work with designers and businesses in regards to Laser Cutting and 3D Printing.  As this is such a new & growing industry, our recap today is about Reimagining how you see the world.

How can our physical environment be more as dynamic as our digital lifestyles? By changing the way products are designed and manufactured with rapid prototyping tools.  This is something that Hot Pop Factory specializes in with regards to prototyping but it's also a fantastic overall question!  Don't get stuck in same old routine, or process, or mindset.  Ask questions! Say why! Shake things up!!

How does Hot Pop Factory handle rapid prototyping? It involves using computer controlled robots to make physical products, examples of these processes are 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling.  This is a super cool example of how there are so very many tools out there!!! New tools! Ones of which you may not even know about!!! Identify your problem and figure out new ways of solving problems.

Why should you care? These technologies help make your ideas real much faster and more inexpensively.  Seriously, check out what Hot Pop Factory is doing with Laser Cutting & 3D Printing.  It is suuuuuuuper cool.  It's also a beautiful example of educating yourself on the available tools on the market.

What's the take away from this? Apart from the fact that we think Hot Pop Factory is pretty cool? Well it's this....

Are you struggling with something on a day-to-day basis? Have you seriously taken a look on your routine or how you do things?  SHAKE IT UP!! Reassess things and see what happens.  Little things, things that might not matter too much.  Take a shower at night instead of in the morning. Boom, way more time in the AM to get things done.

Stay fresh everone!
